Girl Child

Amongst sweet smiles, pretty skirts and gentle manners, a girl child is surely a delight. There are so many dressy ideas for girls which is a constant tough decision making process for parents. There is a huge range in clothes, hair accessories and dolling up the baby for an occasion is quite a process. The Indian girl child is considered lucky amongst other concepts in religious beliefs.

Considered as Laxmi or the Goddess of wealth many families revere a girl child and in the North the girl child is never made to touch the feet of her elders including her parents. The girl child is also a matter of pride and the silent admiration of all her brothers. The bonding between sisters or a mother and girl child is a special one. A girl child is surely special.

A lot of emancipation among women is now happening which was initiated by our freedom fighters. The main being the superstition that the girl child is more of a responsibility. The eradication of the dowry system is a boon and many girl children are now saved from the torment of the future. Initially the girl child was made to do chores and then settle in matrimony. Today’s girl child is an example of accomplishing tasks, academics, sports and also having the freedom to choose her life partner.

A girl child is also a source of a joy as empathy in a girl is very natural. She is maternal right from her childhood days and protective about her siblings. Doing her bit towards the household routines and caring for herself too is quite an obsession for a girl child. The Government has introduced several schemes for the empowerment of women. This includes adult education and also free schools in villages.

A constant endeavor within our families to preserve the respect of the girl child must be a matter of esteem. This is important for growth as a human being, as a person and from this stems responsibility to impart goodness to a family. The girl child today has the freedom to express and desire a vocation which is conducive for her overall growth in future.
